Some invasive plants change how much fuel exists, when it dries and how it is arranged. Fire can then favor the invasive species over native vegetation, reinforcing a different and potentially more damaging fire regime.
Effects are species-specific and ecosystem-specific. This issue covers invasive vegetation that materially changes wildfire behavior or recurrence.
