Some fires are set intentionally for vandalism, concealment, land clearing or land claims. A deliberate ignition can spread beyond its intended area, particularly during drought and wind.
Investigation is complicated when fire destroys evidence and remote areas lack timely observation. This issue covers intentional ignition and illegal clearing by fire, not permitted ecological or agricultural burning.
