#00381
Coordinate registration, procurement, quality assurance, forecasting and supply so patients can obtain effective Access and Reserve antibiotics without promoting uncontrolled use.
Parent issue
#00368 Patients lack timely diagnosis and access to effective antibiotics
Location
Description
Governments, procurers, manufacturers and global-health partners should identify priority treatment gaps, register needed products, pool or coordinate procurement, forecast demand, maintain quality-assured supply and provide appropriate formulations, including paediatric products. Access to Reserve antibiotics should be paired with diagnostics and stewardship rather than blocked by price or absent registration.
This intervention must balance access and conservation, reducing shortages, falsified or substandard products, and delays in effective treatment while preventing promotional overuse and non-prescription distribution.
