Buildings account for significant energy waste

Residential and commercial buildings account for nearly 40% of energy consumption. Most existing buildings have poor insulation, outdated HVAC systems, and no smart energy management. Retrofitting is expensive, and landlords have little incentive when tenants pay the energy bills.
