Description

Bankset Energy tested sleeper-clip PV panels at Deutsche Bahn's Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) test field, claiming ~0.1 MW per km and announcing 200 MW across 1,000 km in Saxony in 2018. No independent verification of the 200 MW / 1,000 km deployment has emerged. Deutsche Bahn has stated publicly that companies testing at its field do so independently of any DB adoption decision, and DB has not committed to deploying the technology.

Lessons learned

  • A test-field presence at Deutsche Bahn's facility does not constitute a deployment; 'is testing' and 'has built operating capacity' must be treated as distinct claims requiring separate evidence.
  • When gigawatt-scale announcements (2018) are followed by years of press silence, treat the original figures as unverified marketing until independently confirmed by third-party measurement.
  • The infrastructure host (Deutsche Bahn) explicitly not committing to adoption is a concrete signal to discount a company's rollout projections.
  • Require independently measured MWh output data, not company-stated MW/km figures, before crediting capacity claims in this technology category.
